Life can be chaotic at times. There are seasons where we are running, chasing, and multi-tasking a hundred things at a time. It leaves us wondering if life will always be this way.
I have a few tips that you can try to see if they can bring some more space into your life. Some more room just to breathe.
Plan for tomorrow, tonight. This is what I did for years. It helps everything from waking up on time to getting everything done that needed to get done. If I know what I'm doing that day and I'm looking forward to it (even if it is just "finishing my to-do list), it makes skipping the snooze so much easier.
Make a routine. The biggest hang-up for me is always doing one chore, then seeing another chore I need to do, starting that one, then another, and another. Leaving a bunch of half-done chores all around the house. Then at night I would look around and feel like I accomplished nothing while being busy all day. It was really a defeating feeling. Since I made routines, I can look at those other jobs and know that I don't have to do them right then and there. They are on the schedule, and I can leave them for their respective day and time. This alone freed my mind from so much clutter.
Create a parking lot. No, please don't pave your yard into a parking lot. What I mean is create a living document (mine is in my favorite notebook, but yours can be online or wherever is convenient for you) where you put those larger projects on. The ones you see that need to be done while you are doing other things. The items that are not in your regular routine. Having this list not only frees your mind, but having all of those projects in one place helps with #4.
Prioritize your parking lot projects. This has helped so much! Especially when you have a long list of things to improve about your homestead. When you have your complete list you can prioritize based on finances and time. I usually choose one smaller project per week. And one larger project per month. This helps me feel like I'm making progress while not breaking the bank.
There you have it. A solid start to calming the chaos. An inroad to more mental space. And time to breathe in your busy busy life.
